What I admire most about this review - which, in technical terms is evidence-based, well-argued and properly discursive - is its commitment to responding to the IDEAS in the film - the matrix of associated ideas. I find it very satisfying that, as you sat their in the darkness of L1, you were having an enriched experience of Splice - yes, it's heavy-handed, yes, the third act is weak, but your review suggests to me that, thematically, the film was also 'important'.
Your confidences are growing with each review, Chrissie. I look forward genuinely to your thoughts on Black Swan... :D
